Love's Labour's Lost - Gamut Theatre

Role

Scene Designer and Technical Director

Project type

Outdoor Theatre

Gamut Theatre Group

Harrisburg Shakespeare Company

June 2025

This version of Love's Labour's Lost was set in the 1980's at the prestigious University of Navarre, which was influenced by the real Cambridge University. The center platform/statue of Cupid was included because of the show's main theme of love, and the fact that many prestigious institutions include statues and fountains in their courtyard and quads to inspire students. The base of the set has been reused over the years for previous Free Shakespeare in the Park productions, so the main part of implementing the design after the set and stage were built as they normally are was the painting and decorating, which is always a challenge when doing outdoor theatre in May. Paint touch up kits were my best friend when it came to keeping the set fresh for every show.
